1. Open Your Boxes of Decodable Books
Start by assigning each student a pack that matches their phonics needs. Take-Everywhere Literacy Packs™ come in three different skill levels, each targeting key phonics skills:
- Beginning of the Year: CVC Review
- Middle of the Year: Beginning & Ending Blends
- End of the Year: Final E & R-Controlled Words
Use the extra labels provided to personalize each pack with students' names for easy distribution.
2. Distribute Packs and Engage Students
Give each student:
- One Take-Everywhere Literacy Pack (or both if schools choose to send them together)
- A family letter
- A backpack to hold their new books
Teachers can choose how to distribute packs. Here are some suggestions:
- Get your students excited! Let them know they’re receiving a special gift that will help them become stronger readers.
- Encourage students to open their packs at the same time and take a few moments to explore their new books together.
3. Keep Students Reading at Home!
Send packs home with students so they can practice reading with their family members and caregivers.
Schools have the flexibility to send the packs individually or together, based on their preference.
Encourage families to use the Learning Together Resources in our Family Hub to support their child's literacy growth!
